At United Charitable, we are thrilled to spotlight Nichelle Gardner, our Accounting Manager, whose life and work embody the spirit of philanthropy. Nichelle’s journey in giving began in her childhood when she fondly remembers the joy of contributing to church offerings with coins pulled from her mother’s and grandmother’s purse. This early experience sparked her lifelong commitment to service and set the stage for a deep understanding of the true essence of giving.

Nichelle’s dedication to philanthropy is matched by her active involvement in community service. Both Nichelle and her husband served as ministers at their church in Virginia, where they made significant contributions through personal and communal efforts. Their commitment to tithing, 12% of which her current church distributes to deserving community nonprofits and disaster relief funds, underscores their commitment to and belief in the importance of impactful giving. Nichelle shares, “When you give in any form, it is such a humbling moment. It makes you remember that not everyone is where you are, and it is so rewarding if you can help them in any way.” This sentiment reflects her profound understanding of the rewards that come from helping others.

Beyond her personal contributions, Nichelle has been an active volunteer at her church, managing finances, organizing community and give-back events, and engaging in community service projects. Her dedication to serving others is a family affair; Nichelle has passed these values on to her children and, more recently, her grandchild. She encourages her family to support “anything that touches their hearts,” ensuring that the spirit of giving continues to thrive across generations.
