Charitable Journeys: Jack Forbes and All Stars Project
Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) have revolutionized the landscape of charitable giving, allowing individuals to make a lasting impact on causes they deeply care about. In this blog post, we’ll delve into how a single knock on a door led to an impactful relationship between one donor and an organization whose work they are passionate about.
Jack Forbes learned about the All Stars Project through a door-to-door campaign. After initially stating he was uninterested, he ran down the street after the volunteer, looking to learn more about the organization. He learned that All Stars Project (ASP), Founded in 1981, is a 501(c)3 national nonprofit that uses a performance-based approach to help tens of thousands of inner-city youths and their families create success in their lives. ASP transforms the lives of youth from poor and underserved communities through the developmental power of performance in partnership with caring adults, giving everyone an opportunity to grow.
Although he did not grow up in the theatre, Jack’s personal experience with ASP and within his community illustrated to him the incredible impact of the organization. Seeing programs such as Operation Conversation: Cops & Kids, Youth Onstage!, Developmental Coaching, and the All Stars Talent Show Network underlined ASP’s ability to help youth see new possibilities for themselves and create change in their communities.
Through the continued support of individuals like Jack, All Stars Project has been able to expand its reach beyond New York and New Jersey to create locations in Chicago, Dallas, and the San Francisco Bay Area. At United Charitable, we’re here to guide you on your charitable journey. The story of Jack and ASP is a testament to the power of DAFs in facilitating impactful, flexible, and strategic giving.
