The Mission:

The mission of the I WILL WAIT FOR YOU: The Rick Salmastrelli Scholarship is to highlight a Lawrence high school senior sports player that has made it his or her mission to make teamwork and team camaraderie a priority in his or her high school sports career. Rick Salmastrelli was a part of the Lawrence sports scene for 40 years and always admired the student on the team that personified teamwork. The mantra "there is no 'i' in team" embodied the spirit of the students that Rick appreciated the most. They might not have been the star, but they were certainly an integral part of the team's backbone. We continue to honor Rick Salmastrelli and his admiration of senior student sports players that share his same passion for teamwork through this scholarship.

Requirements to Apply:

  1. Applicant must be going on to post-secondary education. 
  2. Applicant must play on at least one Lawrence High School sports team.
  3. Applicant must embody the following values: good sportsmanship, teamwork, and camaraderie among his or her peers.  


To Apply:

  1. Submit Lawrence High School Transcript, including GPA



  2. Submit Lawrence High School Student Resume



  3. Submit two (2) recommendations. These recommendations can be from a coach, a teacher, or a guidance counselor.



  4. Submit this completed application.
