Mar 8, 2024

At United Charitable, our staff not only helps donors navigate the world of philanthropy but also actively participates in making a difference through their own donor advised funds (DAFs). One such staff member is Lorna Rodriguez. Lorna, born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and her family, who share this heritage, are passionate about supporting Friends of Puerto Rico (FoPR) through their DAF, demonstrating a personal commitment to the economic development of the Puerto Rican people.

Friends of Puerto Rico is a non-partisan, non-profit 501(c)(3) social impact organization based in Washington, DC, with a mission to accelerate economic opportunities for the people of Puerto Rico. They achieve this by mobilizing a network of partners and focusing on entrepreneurial initiatives and education, as well as creating opportunities for women and girls. FoPR is committed to sustainability and self-sufficiency, striving to make a lasting impact on Puerto Rican communities both on the island and in the United States.

Lorna’s support for FoPR aligns with her personal values of empowerment and community building. By leveraging her DAF, she is able to contribute to initiatives that directly benefit the Puerto Rican people. Through FoPR’s programs, individuals are empowered to create a better future for themselves and their communities, leading to sustainable growth and increased self-sufficiency.

Through her support for Friends of Puerto Rico, Lorna is making a tangible impact on Puerto Rico’s economic development. Her and her family’s dedication to creating opportunities and fostering sustainability exemplifies the spirit of philanthropy that drives United Charitable and its staff members.
