Supply Love: Taking Action During a Time of Need!

A new and exciting fiscally sponsored program of United Charitable.

Supply Love began as friends making masks and collecting supplies to help local hospitals and First Responders. Within days, they saw first hand just how great the need truly was. Community members were desperate to help, but didn’t know how. Community organizations needed supplies but didn’t know who to ask to help. So the volunteers at Supply Love stepped forward to help. Their mission is to bring volunteers and local businesses together to help bridge the gap in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and disinfectant products resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Less than a month after their program launched, a team of over 50 volunteers made, collected, and donated over 2,000 masks, 15,000 gloves, gallons of hand sanitizer and countless cleaning supplies to organizations such as Sibley Memorial Hospital, National Children’s Medical Center, Unity Medical Center, DC Police Foundation, Bethesda Chevy Chase Rescue Squad, Fairfax Firefighters and Paramedics, Serve Your City, Martha’s Table, Friendship Place, Breadcoin, and Pathways DC.

The Supply Love community partners include: Bruno Orthodontics, The Roth Team at Washington Fine Properties, Impulse Retail, Hollywood Nails, the National Cathedral School, Beauvoir Elementary School and The Potomac School.

This week we are highlighting them in our Perseverance & Positivity campaign.
We asked them if they had any tips to share with us:

Supply Love Shares Their Tips

(1) You CAN Make a Difference! At Supply Love, we know that every mask made, every box of supplies collected and every dollar counts. It doesn’t matter how big or small your contribution might be, small steps add up to big results.

(2) Helping Can Be Fun! During these stressful times, it can feel overwhelming and even guilt inducing to take a minute to enjoy yourself. But helping can be fun! You can make a card for a First Responder, sew a mask for a loved one, or take a moment to reach out to someone you love and just check in. All of these little gestures help “Supply Love” to those who need it most.

(3) Masks Matter. Masks help protect yourself and others. Wearing a mask is an act of love and respect for your neighbors, not a sign of fear. Wear a mask today!

(4) Don’t Forget to Breathe. When you take a moment to breathe, you calm yourself and everyone around you. While you’re going through your day, take a moment to breathe and remember we’ll get through this together.
